BODY FOUND IN TUNNEL
(P.A.) WELLINGTON, November 2. Found by a railway surfaceman in the Tawa Flat tunnel about 8.30 this morning, the badly mutilated body of a man was identified tonight as that of William Patrick Casey, aged 53, a leading aircraftman stationed at an aerodrome in the Manawatu district. It is presumed that Casey, whose wife lives at 106 Toanui street, Palmerston North, fell from a train which left Wellington last night. He was due back at his aerodrome for duty at 3 p.m. today. Casey was a returned soldier of the last war and before that served five years in the Royal Navy. DEATH AFTER FALL ON PITCHFORK Seriously injured by falling on a pitchfork 10 days ago, Raymond Clarke, aged 15, youngest son of Mr and Mrs Horace Clarke, of Menzies Ferry, died at Kew Hospital yesterday afternoon. He was admitted to hospital on October 23 after falling off a haystack on to a pitchfork and suffering severe abdominal injuries. An inquest will be opened at the hospital this afternoon. FARMER FOUND INJURED IN PADDOCK Michael Mcßandle, a farmer, aged 54, of Makarewa, was found lying in a paddock on his farm yesterday afternoon suffering from head injuries, but there was no indication of the cause of the injuries. He was admitted to Kew Hospital last evening, but the full extent of 'his injuries was not known.
