BOMBERS AT GIBRALTAR

Powerful Naval Squadron

LONDON, November 1.

The Vichy News Agency states that 15 persons were killed, 11 injured and three are missing as the result of a Liberator bomber diving into the sea while preparing to land at Gibraltar. The plane, which was flying from Malta, carried a crew of 10 and 22 passengers, including some who had been injured in the Malta raids. Vichy quotes a message from La Linea that 40 American bombers landed yesterday at Gibraltar, where there is intense air activity. The battleship Rodney, the aircraft-carrier Furious and 14 destroyers are in port. Convoys of merchantmen have recently landed a large contingent of American troops, besides big quantities of war material.
