LOSS OF DESTROYER.— The loss of the destroyer Veteran is announced by the Admiralty. The Veteran was completed on November 13, 1919. She was a destroyer of 1120 tons, with a speed of 31 knots. (Rugby). ARMISTICE DAY.— A statement by the Archbishop of Canterbury (Dr William Temple) and the Moderator of the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland says: “This year, as in the two before it, no observance of November 11 as Armistice Day will be possible on the scale with which we were familiar until 1939, but it will, as before, be Poppy Day and the previous Sunday, November 8, will be observed as Remembrance Day. (Rugby).
