Tlie Hon. Adam Hamilton, a member of the War Administration, arrived m Invercargill on Saturday night. He will spend a few days in Southland.

Reference to the death of Sir Robert Anderson, Southland vice-president of the institute, was made at the annual meeting of the Royal New Zealand Institute of Horticulture at Wellington recently. A motion of sympathy was passed with Sir Robert’s family. Mr W. J. Blackler, registrar and clerk of the Court at Westport, and formerly of Gore, has been appointed temporarily to act as secretary of the No. 2 Armed Forces Appeal Board m Dunedin to replace Mr A. B. Thomson, who is being transferred on promotion to the head pffice of the Justice Department, Wellington. Mr Thomson does not expect to go to Wellington before the end of the year.
