RESHUFFLE OF PORTFOLIOS

National Service To Mr McLagan

(P.A.) WELLINGTON, November 1. The ministerial responsibilities held during the brief existence of the War Administration by four of the National Party representatives who have since resigned have been reallocated as follows, according to an announcement by the Prime Minister, the Rt. Hon. P. Fraser:— THE HON. ADAM HAMlLTON—Minister in charge of War Expenditure. THE HON. J. G. BARCLAY—Minister of Primary Production for War Purposes. THE HON. A. McLAGAN—Minister of National Service. THE HON D. WlLSON—Minister of Civil Defence. Mr Wilson said he would shortly visit the main centres for the purpose of discussing and promoting civil defence matters with the various E.P.S. authorities. He would be accompanied by the Director of National Service, Mi - J. S. Hunter, and would also have with him the Regional Commissioner for each of the districts he would be visiting. Mr Barclay said he proposed to continue the policy of the production councils and to obtain the maximum assistance in regard to them. He would be visiting the various councils at the earliest possible opportunity. In addition, said Mr Barclay, he expected to get help from all members of Parliament representing country districts.

The War Administration, which lias been reduced from 13 to 11, is now as follows:— The Rt. Hon. P. Fraser—Prime Minister and Chairman of the War Cabinet. The Hon. Adam Hamilton—Minister in charge of war expenditure and Associate Minister of Supply and Munitions. The Hon. F. Jones—Minister of Defence. The Rt. Hon. J. G. Coates—Minister of the Armed Forces and War Co-ordination. The Hon. D. G. Sullivan—Minister of Supply and Munitions, also Deputy Prime

Minister. The Hon. R. Semple—Minister of Transport. The Hon. J. G. Barclay—Minister of Primary

Production for War Purposes. The Hon. P. K. Paikca—Minister in charge

of the Maori war effort. The Hon. A. McLagan—Minister of National Service and Minister of Industrial Man-
