SOUTHLAND GUN DOG CLUB
Championship Meeting
The Southland Gun-Dog Club held it’s club championship meeting at West Plains during the week-end. There was an excellent entry in the main event and the standard of work was high. , The championship was won by Mr W. F. Clouston’s Labrador, Ythan Robert, with a particularly good display both 7 on land and across water. The runner-up was Mr T. Pasco’s curly coated retriever’ Cowanlea Major, who also gave a fine display. A Dunedin dog, Mr A. McLeod’s Labrador Nick, was third. The judge of the club championship was Mr G. L. McKenzie and the other events were judged by Messrs T. Pasco (puppy), J. B. Pasco (novice) and J. R. O’Brien (limit class). Detailed results are as follows: —
PUPPY CLASS (Land).—W. Bunting’s golden retriever Gisborne Robert (90pts) 1, J. Young’s Labrador, Jock (97pts) 2, W. Bunting’s Goldilocks (96pts) 3, W. Bunting’s Gold Silk (89pts) 4. PUPPY (Water).—W. Bunting’s g.r. Gold Silk (89pts) 1. NOVICE (Land).—W. Bunting’s g.r. Goldilocks (96pts) 1, W. Bunting’s Gisborne Robert (92pts) 2, W. Buntings Gold Silk (87pts) 3, J. Young’s Lab., Jock (82pts) 4. LIMIT CLASS. Two bird non-sight retrieve). —W. Gorham’s s.s. Starlight (91pts) 1, F. Harty’s c.c.r., Toby (82pts) 2 and W. F. Clouston’s Lab., Mid of Central (82pts) equal 2, J. B. Pasco’s c.c.r. Chips (63pts) 4. CLUB CHAMPIONSHIPS. (Three sections).
