ALASKAN HIGHWAY NOW OPEN

(Rec. 11.30 p.m.) WASHINGTON, October 29.

“The entire Alaskan highway is now open to traffic two weeks ahead of schedule,” said Mr Henry L. Stimson, Secretary for War. The motor trucks began this week moving supplies and equipment to garrisons on the north Pacific outpost, a distance of 1671 miles. Thousands of trucks will operate along the route all the winter, carrying soldiers and supplies to Alaska and returning with vital materials.
