DESTRUCTIVE BRITISH BOMBS
BERNE, October 29.
One-third of the people who were killed in the last R.A.F. raid on Cologne lost their lives while in air-raid shelters because of the increased weight and explosive power of the British bombs, according to an expert’s report published in the Swiss newspaper, Berner Tageblatt. A large proportion of the buildings were pierced from top to bottom. According to the newspaper Popolo d’ltalia the Royal Air Force raid on Milan caused 30 large and 300 small fires, 10 of which involved economic or industrial targets. The newspaper adds that bombs also hit two hospitals, five schools, one university, and several churches.
