CHURCHILL AUCTION AT WELLINGTON

Valuable N.Z. Books

Some valuable books dealing with the early history of New Zealand are among the gifts to be offered at the Churchill Auction in Wellington on November 5 and following days. These include “The New Zealanders” by G. F. Angas (1847), “New Zealand Graphic and Descriptive” by Barraud and Travers (1877), Captain Cook’s Voyages, three ' volumes (1773), “The Mythology and Traditions of the New Zealanders” by Sir George Grey (1854), “Castaway on the Auckland Isles. Wreck of the Grafton,” by Thomas Musgrave (1866).

The city librarian, Mr H. B. Famall, has a catalogue for the Wellington sale and this may be consulted by those interested at the Public Library. The catalogue lists 531 items, including books, pictures, manuscripts, antiques, objects of art and coins. In addition supplementary lists of gifts received since the catalogue was printed are to be issued. Bids may be made by post for any of the items listed.
