ISSUE OF RATION BOOKS

To date 24,573 new ration books have been issued at the Chief Post Office, Invercargill, and it is expected that with those that will be issued today and tomorrow morning few people in the Invercargill food area will be without new books at the beginning of the month. Yesterday 2312 ordinary books, 656 children’s books and 588 sheets of special clothing coupons for children between the ages of 5 and 17 were issued. In addition to the usual office hours the Chief Post Office will be open between 7 and 9 o’clock this evening for the issue of ration books. The hours tomorrow will be 9 a.m. to noon.
