DEATH OF MAORI
Forestry Camp Incident
{ (Special) AUCKLAND, October 29. A sequel to the clash between police and Maoris at the Waiotapu Forestry Camp, about 20 miles from Rotorua, on Monday was the death in hospital yesterday morning of a Maori, Rahu Reihana, aged 23, of Taupo. His brother, Ken Reihana, aged 24, whose skull is fractured, is in the Rotorua Hospital. Constable G._W. Kilgour’s injury has now been diagnosed as a fractured skull.
Five Maoris, all of whom were handcuffed, appeared before Mr W. H. Freeman, S.M., in Rotorua, and were charged with assaulting and causing actual bodily harm to Constable Kilgour. A similar - charge was laid against Ken I Reihana, who was unable to appear. The accused who appeared in Court were Rehu Reihana, aged 19, Micky Reihana, aged 18, Ray Reihana, aged 36, Tim Reihana, aged 31, all brothers, of Taupo, and Henry October, aged 29, of Taupo. On the application of Detective Sergeant "White the six accused were remanded to appear at Auckland on November 3.
