YOUNG GIRL’S DEATH

Severe Scalds Received

A young girl, Nita Fay Leathart, aged four, daughter of Mr and Mrs J. R. Leathart, of Manunui, died in the Taumarunui Hospital early on Monday morning from extensive scalds received when she fell into a tub of hot water on Saturday morning. The child’s mother was a patient in a nursing home, and she was in the charge of relations. Some clothes were being washed on Saturday morning, and boiling water had been ladled into a large wooden tub on the washhouse floor. While there was no one else in the room the child apparently fell head first into the tub, suffering severe scalds to the head and body. She was taken immediately to the hospital.
