Draw For Saturday

Arrangements for the opening of the inter-club cricket competitions on Saturday were completed by the management committee of the Southland Cricket Association last evening. Sixteen. entries in three grades were received by the association, six in the senior grade, six in the junior grade and four in the third grade. Two entries in the senior grade came from Army teams, the members of which will play in slacks and pull-overs instead of cream flannels.

The draw for the first round of games is as follows: —

First Grade—Army No. 2 v. Old BoysInvercargill at High School ground; Union v. Appleby, at Appleby; Bluff v. Army No. 1 at Bluff.

Junior Grade—High School No. 1 v. Borstal, at Borstal; Union v. Old BoysInvercargill, at Queen’s Park; Georgetown v. High School No. 2, at High School.

Third Grade—Marist v. Old BoysInvercargill at Queen’s Park No. 1; Appleby v. High School, at High School. It was agreed that with the permission of the grading committee and the club to which he belongs, any player on leave from a northern camp may play for any club.
