PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH
GENERAL ASSEMBLY NEXT MONTH
The annual General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church of New Zealand will be held this year in Auckland, and will open in St. David’s Church, Khyber Pass road, on the evening of Wednesday, November 11. The total number of ministers and elders attending from practically every part of the Dominion will be little short of the normal 300. It is five years since the Assembly last met in Auckland. At the opening session a sermon will be preached by the retiring moderator, the Rev. John Davie, of Gisborne, and the inaugural address will be delivered by the moderator-elect, the Rev. J. G. Laughton, superintendent of Maori Missions, who will preside over subsequent sessions. Tire sittings on the Thursday will begin with a morning Communion service, and that evening there will be a public Maori Mission demonstration in the Town Hall. The Assembly will meet morning, afternoon and evening, and its deliberations will probably last more than a week. One of the matters likely to en-
gage much attention is the question of union with the Methodist and Congregational Churches. The Presbyterian Women’s Missionary Union will hold its annual Dominion conference simultaneously with the Assembly. About 100 delegates from other centres are expected.
