ALL NIGHT FANCIED AT MOTUKARARA

(Special) CHRISTCHURCH, October 25. The North Canterbury Racing Club will hold the annual Labour Day meeting at Motukarara on this occasion and the change of venue will be no detriment as It is a very handy and popular course for Cnristchurch patrons. After a spell of fine weather rain set in on Friday night and will benefit the course provided there is no reptition over the week-end.

The chief event has drawn only six acceptors, but it may be a good race. All Night is strongly fancied to repeat his Washdyke success, but the three-year-old Lord Advocate is a newcomer who will be troublesome. Good Scout was on the easy list for a few days after bruising a foot In a Washdyke race. On the same day Stabilize fell and he has been lame since then so is a doubtful starter. In the open sprint Erambie will be an absentee from the Fernside Hack Handicap as she has developed lameness. There will be a division in the Trial Plate unless two horses are scratched. ,

The weather is now improving.

CYCLING

Ten riders faced the starter in a 10-mile block race on Saturday. The weather made conditions very unpleasant and the limit men were again successful. The placings were as follows:—A. Dawson, 3.45 mark, 1; R Harris, 4.30 limit, 2; N. Drake, 3.0, 3. N. Drake secured fastest time, 28.53. This was quite a good effort for a 15-year-o!d lad having his fourth ride this season. The road season was brought to a close after a very successful year.
