BOYS’ AND GIRLS’ CLUBS

"There are at present 150 clubs throughout the Southland province with a membership of over 2000. The executive is proud of the movement and of the way in which club members have carried out their projects. The indications for the present season are for an increase of from 10 to 20 per cent, in entries. This, combined with increasing costs of seeds, makes the problem of finance a serious one," stated the honorary secretary of the Boys’ and Giris’ Clubs’ Association in a letter r ead at the meeting of the Southland Education Board yesterday. The letter asked for a grant to assist in the work of the clubs and the board decided to make one of £5/5/-, as in the past.
