SHOOTING SEASON
Request For Next Year
(P.A.) WELLINGTON, October 23. . Whether there would be a shooting season next winter was discussed at a meeting today of the North Island Acclimatization Societies’ Council at which there was also present the president of the South Island Council, Mr G. L. Pomfret-Dodd. It was resolved _ that the North and South Island societies desired an open season in 1943, whether new ammunition was released or not, and that the periods should be three week-ends for duck with longer periods for other game as required by individual societies. Later, members of the council met the Prime Minister as a deputation to obtain his view. Mr Fraser said that a reply could not be given till later.
