INVERCARGILL GIRL GUIDES’ ASSOCIATION
There was a good attendance of members at the annual meeting of the Invercargill Girl Guides’ Association held in the Y.M.C.A. rooms last night. The annual report stated that all the companies and packs had contributed well to the appeal for Army huts and £64/17/2 had been raised. Great assistance had been given during the year with the making of camouflage nets and face nets for the Home Guard. Each company had collected waste rags for the Army, Air Force and Navy, and another house-to-house collection was to be taken in the near future. Various local institutions had been helped and parcels sent to the Air Force hospital at Blenheim and to the Makogai leper station. Miss M. W. May gave an interesting address on the need for libraries suitable for adolescents. The election of office-bearers resulted as follows:—President, Mrs J, Stobo; vice-presidents, Lady Anderson, Mesdames R. Pollok, A. T. McCaw, J. N, Armour, D. Pottinger, Stanley Brown, M, H.
