Comparison With Number Of Householders The rural areas of the Invercargill postal district lead the whole of New Zealand in the percentage of National Savings accounts to households. This is shown in figures compiled by the Post Office. There arc 10,004 households in the rural areas of the Invercargill district and 12,521 accounts gives a percentage of 125.15. The rural areas of Timaru postal district are second with a percentage of 114.71 and Blenheim rural areas third with a percentage of 96.93. Invercargill does not figure so well in a list of percentages for the main centre of each postal district. Invercargill is only thirteenth in a list of 18. The city, with 8172 households, has 6002 accounts, a percentage of 73.44. Blenheim heads this list with a percentage of 154.30. In a list of percentages for the whole of each district, that is, main centre and rural areas, Invercargill is fourth with 101.90, there being 18,176 households and 18,523 accounts. Blenheim also heads tliis list with a percentage of 128.40, Timaru is second with 110.81 and Wanganui third with 109.96.
