FINED FOR NOT PARADING.— A fine of £lO and costs was imposed by Mr J. L. Stout, S.M., at Wellington, on Darcy Geary for failure to attend a compulsory parade of the E.P.S. warden’s group. The defendant said he had no excuse to offer. The Magistrate said he did not know what to do with such people. If they did not attend parades he would have to send them to prison. The defendant had a duty to undertake, whether he liked it or not.—P.A. SUBSTANTIAL BEQUESTS.— Under the will of Mrs Mary Rothney Orr, of Christchurch, widow of Mr Alexander Orr, of Methven, farmer, the following bequests are made:—Dr Barnardo’s Homes, £2000; Cholmondeley Memorial Children’s Home, Governor’s Bay. £2000; Christchurch Domains Board, £IOOO.—P.A. PRICE OF WOOL-PACKS.— A price order gazetted last night establishes a maximum retail price for 1942 wool-packs, whether of New Zealand or overseas origin, of 7/- each, except that outside the four centres retailers may add to the nearest halfpenny freight charges incurred up to a maximum price inland of 7/3.—P.A.
