APPEAL LODGED
Secretary Of Hospital Board An appeal against the calling up for service with the armed forces of Mr A. M. Williams, secretary of the Southland Hospital Board, has been lodged by the board. This was reported at the meeting of the board yesterday by the chairman, Mr T. Golden, who said that the appeal had been lodged after discussion with other members of the board. The Health Department had advised that it had communicated with the Director of National Service supporting any appeal and suggesting that possibly Mr Williams’s call-up could be postponed for four months to give the board an opportunity of securing the services of an acting secretary. The secretary’s action in submitting an appeal against the calling up for Home Guard service of Mr E. Von Tunzelman, dispenser’s assistant at the Southland Hospital, was approved.
The action of the secretary in appealing against the calling up of two employees of the board for Army clerical work was also approved.
