RUGBY IN BRITAIN

New Zealand Army Beaten LONDON, October 11. The Rosslyn Park Rugby team beat New Zealand Army by 26 points to five. The New Zealand forwards played well against the strong Rosslyn Park combination, in which the back-line was too fast and too skilful for the New Zealand backs, who failed to settle down. Four international players, H. A. Fry, E. J. Unwin, R. E. Prescott and E. J. Williams scored for Rosslyn Park before half-time, when the New Zealanders were 18 points in arrears. The New Zealanders kept out Rosslyn Park by solid tackling, for most of the second spell, which was more even. Sapper C. Thompson went over the line from a smashing forward rush and Sapper F. J. Bradley converted from a wide angle. The High Commissioner, Mr W. J. Jordan, and a fair sprinkling of other New Zealand barrackers were present. The New Zealand team was: Backs, Lieutenant J. D. Coogan, Sappers D. J. Bradley, G. H. Fennessey and F. J. Bradley, Sergeant A. R. Curry, Sappers J. G. Meacher and E. C. Curry; forwards, Sappers A. R. Thompson, J. E. Willis, J. J. McGuire, N. J. Higgs, W. F. Davies, Lance-Corporal R. Johnson, Sappers D. T. O’Reilly and C. Thompson.
