LAWN TENNIS.— A. decision to hold the opening day of the club on October 31 was made at the annual meeting of the Anglican Tennis Club. The Rev. W. W. Powell was chairman. The following office-bearers were elected:—President, the Rev. W. W. Powell; vice-presidents, Mrs F. Wallis and Miss S. Pearce; secretary and treasurer, Mrs M. Zwimpfer; auditor, Mr W. F. Young; delegate to the Eastern Southland Lawn Tennis Sub-Association, Mrs Zwimpfer; committee, Mesdames Allison, Scott, Robinson, Cuttriss, Miss Perrelle and Mr A. Wilson. PERSONAL. — Flight Sergeant Desmond S. Tutty, R.N.Z.A.F., who was wounded in air operations five months ago, is still in hospital, but is making satisfactory progress. Before he proceeded overseas Flight Sergeant Tutty was attached to the Gore staff of the National Mortgage and Agency Co., Ltd. ST. JOHN AMBULANCE.— The following candidates were successful in the first-aid examination conducted by the St. John Ambulance Association for its Waikaka class: —Misses P. J. Aitken, M. Byars, C. M. Corcoran, E. Gardyne, Mr F. M. Henderson, Misses J. Horrell, I. Horrell, H. Hodgkinson, Mrs M. Inder, Misses A. Kerse, L. Mclntosh, A. McKenzie, Jeanette McQueen, Jessie McQueen, R. Ross, E. A. Smith, M. Smith, A. Styles, L. Turnbull.
