TANK-LANDING CRAFT

Construction By Mr Kaiser (Rec. 7 pun.) OAKLAND (California), Oct. 6. Mr Henry Kaiser announced that he is launching his first 3500-ton secret tank-landing ship, which was prefabricated inland and required only half the quantity of steel used in a Liberty ship. Mr Kaiser, in a statement, declared: “They said it could not be done, but we will be turning out two weekly in a new yard.” Mr Kaiser, who is also experimenting in toe construction of three experimental giant cargo ships, in addition to toe rapid building of Liberty ships, expects the new tank-lander to be fitted out ready for service in 30 days.
