FLOOD WATER BLOCKS ROADS

Flood water from the Oreti River covered the road to a depth of more than two feet at the Iron Bridge yesterday morning and cars were unable to get through. The flood water subsided later in the day and according to a report received by the Automobile Association (Southland) during the afternoon the road, though still covered by a little water, was quite passable. The road at Lochiel was also blocked by flood water yesterday morning, but it, too, was passable later in the day.
