NATIONAL SAVlNGS.—National Savings investments at InvercarglU to date this week amount to £l5OO, leaving £543 required by Saturday to reach the quota for the fortysecond successive week. r.S.A. CONCERT PARTY.—A varied programme was presented by the R.S.A. concert party and other performers on Wednesday evening in the St. Andrew’s Sunday School Hail in aid of the Kew free kindergarten. Several sketches were given by the concert party under the direction of Mr P. L. Hodge and Mrs A. Melrose’s pupils were seen in dancing items. Songs were given by Miss D. Foothead and the humour was supplied by Messrs B. Inkster and W. Holding. The accompanist was Mrs Ivon Wilson. PRICE OF KEROSENE—The Increase of twopence a gallon on kerosene authorized by the Price Tribunal and announced earlier this week applies only to lighting kerosene and not to power kerosene. PATRIOTIC COOKERY BOOK.—A turther sum of £5O. making £l5O to date, has been paid in by Dr Garfield Crawford as a result of sales of the Patriotic Cookery Book. VICTORY ART UNION TICKETS.—The exceUent result of £56 In sales of Victory Art Union tickets was recently achieved in the Nightcaps district. OFFICE ABOLISHED.—The abolition of the office of Assistant Secretary of Labour from the Administrative division of the Civil Service was announced in the Gazette last night.—PA.
