DUNEDIN COMPETITIONS
(Special) DUNEDIN, September 2. The annual festival of the Dunedin Competitions Society was continued tonight when Southland competitors were successful in several classes. Mr Owen Hymen (Gore), the only competitor, was placed first in the humorous recitation. In the class for song and dance under 12 Shirley M. Harvey (Browns) was highly commended and Gwenneth Bradshaw (Invercargill) was placed third with 78 points in the class for tap-dancing, T 4 and over. There were 12 competitors. Miss C. Stewart (Gore )and Miss M. Payne were placed third equal with 87 points in the vocal solo, girls 19 to 21. There were 18 competitors. Among a class of 36 Miss E. Johnson and Mr R. A. Allan, both of Gore, who competed in the sacred solo (ladies or men) were highly commended.
