Mr W. Clark, of Dunedin, secretary of the Seamen’s Union, was a passenger to Stewart Island yesterday. He will return to Bluff on Friday. Constable H. Mulholland, officer in charge of the North Invercargill police station, is at present on leave. He is being relieved by Constable T. Thompson, of the central station. Mr E. L. Tyndall, postmaster at Tuatapere, began his annual,leave yesterday. Mr D. O’Leary, of that office, is relieving him. The resignation of Mr John Fisher as Secretary was received at the annual meeting of the Drummond Dairy Factory Company. In presenting him with a case of pipes, the chairman, Mr W. Young, mentioned that Mr Fisher had been appointed to the position in 1912, just 30 years ago, and he asked him to accept the gift as a token of appreciation of the manner in which he had carried out his duties. Mr James Orr was appointed secretary. At the annual meeting of shareholders of the Island Dairy Company, Mr A. Simpson was re-elected chairman of directors and the retiring director, Mr D. A. Howden, was reelected unopposed. Mr Howden has been a director of the company for 14 years.
