BOWLERS’ BILLIARDS CHAMPIONSHIPS
A large crowd of spectators and competitorsiVas present in the Commercial billiards saloon last evening when the first round of the Invercargill bowlers’ championship in billiards and snooker was played. The semifinals and finals will be played next Tuesday evening. The results were:— Billiards. —J. Cosgrove (Northend) 250 beat W. Randall (Makarewa) 175; W. Spencer (R.S.A.) 250 beat J. Holloway (Invercargill) 228; R. Smithies (Georgetown) 250 beat P. Steans (Southland) 120: G. J. Hope (Te Rang!) 250 beat H. Mason (Waihopai) 154.
Snooker Pairs—A. Crulckshank and F. Carter (Makarewa) beat E. Foster and C. Blomfield (Waihopai); A. V. Keast and M. McKenzie (Te Rangi) beat H. Brown and E. Galt (R.S.A.); R. Taggart and H. Fortune (Southland) beat E. H. Ball and A. Fox (Invercargill); G. Reid and L. Gee (Northend) beat W. Clent and S. Dalton (Georgetown). Following is the draw for the semi-finals: Billiards, Northend v. R.S.A.; Georgetown v. Te Rangi; snooker, Makarewa v. Te Rangi; Southland v. Northend.
