CHRISTCHURCH.— SaIes on ’Change: Bank of New Zealand (mortgage shares) £1 11-. Sale reported: New Zealand Newspapers £l/12/9. WRIGHT, STEPHENSON AND CO. LTD. The accounts of Wright, Stephenson and Company, Limited, for the year ended June 30 show a net profit of £31,499, making, with £28,731 brought forward ,a total of £60,230. Interim dividends of 2)4 per cent, on preference shares, less security taxes, and 2)4 per cent, on ordinary shares were paid on January 31 and the directors recommend a further payment on preference shares of 2)4 per cent, less security charges, and a final dividend of 2)4 per cent, on ordinary shares, payable on September 8, making 5 per cent, for the year, leaving a balance of £34,130 to be carried forward. The dividend on ordinary shares is unchanged. The previous rate on preference shares was 4)4 per cent. The profit of £31,499 compares with £35,775 in the previous year. DIVIDENDS DECLARED (P.A.) WELLINGTON, August 31. Woolworths have declared an interim dividend of 5 per cent, on paid-up ordinary shares, payable on October 15. Woolworths (Victoria) have declared a dividend for the half-year ended September 30 on 7 per cent, .preference shares, payable on October 15. The Bank of Australasia has declared an interim dividend of 2/6 a share, less British income tax at 5/6 in the £, at the rate ‘of 5 per cent, per annum. The dividend is payable on October 2 in New Zealand currency equivalent at the date of declaration. DUNEDIN CUSTOMS RETURNS (PA.) DUNEDIN, August 31. Following are the Customs returns for August, together with the returns for August 1941 in parentheses: Customs, £32,794 (£39,009); beer duty, £22,354 (£31,654); sales tax, £32,025 (£32,301); war expenses tax, £104,508 (£39,966).
