DAIRY FACTORY MEETINGS

OREPUKI.—Mr G. E. Davis, chairman of directors, presided over a very good attendance of suppliers at the annual general meeting of the Orepuki Co-operative Dairy Factory Company, Ltd. He stated that the payout was 17.533 d a pound butterfat. During the year a comfortable hut had been built for the accommodation of assistants. Mr Davis congratulated the shareholders on supporting the financial policy of the directors since the inception of the company in their determination to be free from capital debt at the earliest possible moment. The directors, he said, were very proud of the position the company was in today. A dividend of 2’,4 per cent, was declared. The retiring directors were Messrs H. J. Townshend and E. F. Hogg. Mr Hogg did not seek re-election. A ballot resulted in Messrs Townshend and N. J. McKenzie being elected to the board. Considerable discussion took place about the Dairy Farmers’ Union. It was decided to leave the question of membership to suppliers themselves. Mr Davis was reappointed chairman at a meeting of directors held after the annual meeting. KENNINGTON.— Mr A. Henderson presided over a representative number of shareholders at the annua! general meeting of the Kennington Dairy Factory Company, Ltd. In reviewing the year’s operations, he mentioned that the payout at 1/6 l-3d was nearly a farthing a pound better than the previous year. A dividend of 214 per cent, on share capital was declared. The retiring Directors, Messrs A. Hain and W. G. Moncur, were re-elected unopposed. A donation of £lO to help to rebuild the London Hospital for sick children from all over the Empire was approved. The Dairy Farmers’ Union was discussed and a recommendation to all suppliers to join was carried unanimously. At a subsequent meeting of directors, Mr A. Henderson was reelected chairman.
