YOUTHS AND WAR WORK

(P.A.) WANGANUI, August 31. The question of youths between the ages of 16 and 18 being compelled to serve in the national war effort, whether at school or at work, was discussed at a meeting of the Wanganui E.P.S. executive committee and a resolution urging that this should be introduced is to be sent to the Government It was stated that there were many youths between these ages doing nothing to further the war effort, although several E.P.S. units had members younger than this. The Regional Commissioner, Colonel V. C. Ciochetto, who was present, reminded members that no regulations had been introduced compelling persons under 18 to serve in any capacity.
