PATRIOTIC QUOTA STILL SHORT
Efforts to raise the balance of Southland’s quota for patriotic funds for the current financial year were discussed at a meeting of the Publicity Committee of the Southland Provincial Patriotic Council yesterday. Mr W. W. Butchers was chairman. Mr P. L. Hodge reported that the latest returns indicated that £15,000 was still required to complete Southland’s quota of £61,000 in the year ending on September 30. Only one month remained in which to raise the money and an intensive campaign would be required. It was suggested that some of the country committees had not sent in all the money they had received. . It was decided to request all district committees to send in their latest returns at an early date, emphasizing that in subsequent broadcast talks the amount received from each district would be mentioned and that if money had not been paid in the areas would not receive the credit to which they were entitled. The committee considered several suggestions for raising funds and decided to make special efforts to sell comfort coupons for .the forces.
