NEW YORK, August 30. General George C. The Berlin radio announced that Mr Churchill, President Roosevelt and M. Stalin agreed to appoint General Marshall commander in chief of the invasion forces. The Washington correspondent of The New York Times says President Roosevelt held an important conference at the White House attended by his personal chief of staff, Admiral William D. Leahy, General Marshall, Admiral ), J. King, commander-in-chief of the United States Fleet, Lieutenant-General H. H. Arnold, chief of the Army air forces, Mr Donald Nelson, chairman of the War Production Board, and Mr Harry Hopkins, lease-lend administrator.
