PETROL ABUSES
Sir,—Your < correspondents, “Two Gallons” and “Chevrolet,” seem unduly perturbed that some motorists might be wilfully misusing petrol and tyres to the detriment of the war effort. What is .worse is that motorists are required to pay an exorbitant licence fee to use their monthly two gallons of highlytaxed fuel. To term it exploiting or profiteering would be mild. The war is no excuse for the Government, or anyone else, to put outrageously exorbitant charges on anything or anybody. Goodwill, freedom and willing co-operation are just as essential now as at any other time. „ 4 POINT 7.
