SCHOOL IMPROVEMENTS

In response to a request from the Kingston School Committee, the Southland Education Board decided at its meeting yesterday that the work of improving the water supply at the school should be carried out. A letter from the Orawia School Committee inquiring when the work of remodelling the school was to be carried out stated that in the opinion of the committee the work was urgent because of tuberculosis contacts, one of which had had to be taken to Central Otago. It was stated that the plans for remodelling the school had not yet been prepared. It was decided to reply to a letter from the Granity School Committee about improvements to the school grounds that the work already authorized would be carried out.
