GORE NEWS
A. AND P. ASSOCIATION.— The show schedule was discussed at a meeting of the committee of the Gore Agricultural and Pastoral Association yesterday. Recommendations of the sub-committees that the sheep, cattle and draught horse sections be deleted were rejected. Mr R. H. Dickie objected to the show being curtailed to the extent suggested by the sub-committees, and pointed out the dangers the association would be letting itself in for by such an action. Mr Dickie was supported by Messrs J. Burnett and J. L. Elder, and on votes being taken on the recommendations it was decided that the sections recommended to be cut out be retained. Advice was received from the New Zealand Meat Producers’ Board that it had decided to continue its usual donation of £lO to any district which was able to hold the usual field day. The Southland Agricultural and Pastoral Association wrote about the same matter and stated it was desired that Gore and Southland should combine again this year. The letter suggested that the competition should be held at Mataura on Wednesday, December 16. After some discussion the committee decided to hold the matter over for a month. It was decided to incorporate a dog trial competition in the show programme.
