DAIRY FACTORY MEETINGS
EDENDALE.— Mr W. McDonald was chairman at the annual meeting of the Edendale Dairy Factory Company, Ltd., on Wednesday night, and there were 46 shareholders present. The annual report stated that the advance payments to suppliers for the season had amounted to 1/5 per lb butterfat for first grade milk and 1/4 '/j per lb for second grade, making an average of l/4.993d. A distribution of per lb butterfat, amounting to £4255/10/8, was made at the meeting, bringing the average pay-out to l/6.743d per lb butterfat. Tire retiring directors were Messrs D. M. McLeod and G. Clark, who stood for re-elec-tion and in addition Mr R. C. Clarke was nominated. Messrs McLeod and R. C. Clarke were elected. The Dairy Farmers’ Union was discussed, but no action was taken. THORNBURY.—Mr J. W. Donald presided over a good attendance of shareholders of the Thornbury Dairy Factory Company, Ltd. The output of the factory for the - season was 440 tons; an increase of one ton on the previous season. A bonus of Hid per lb butterfat paid at the meeting brought the pay-out for the season to l/6.17d per lb. The retiring directors. Messrs F. Weir and A. Simpson were re-elected and Mr H. J. Riddle resigned from the directorate, being replaced by Mr R. Stuart. No action was taken about the Dairy Farmers’ Union, it being left to individual suppliers to consider the question of personal membership. It was decided to pay a dividend of 252 per cent, on share capital. At a meeting of directors Mr Ronald was re-elected chairman. OTAUTAU.— The annual report states that the advance payment for butterfat this season has been l/s>/ 2 d per lb, this payment giving an average for all grade of l/5.47d. A further payment of one penny per lb is being paid at the annual meeting. Approximately 360 tons of cheese was produced during the season.. The directors recommend that no dividend be paid on share capital, but that the balance remaining in the appropriation account, approximately £lOB, be transferred to the reserve account for bank reduction. The retiring directors are Messrs D. Mitchell and W. Thomson.
