Late News LOSSES IN CONVOYS TO RUSSIA

(Rec. 10 p.m.) NEW YORK, Aug. 26. Captain Lovett, the Navy Director of Public Relations, revealed that the losses in convoys to Russian Arctic ports sometimes reached 50 per cent of the supplies. “It is difficult to get guns, ammunition and food supplies to Russia,” he said. “In some convoys via Murmansk and Archangel there has been a loss of 50 per cent, of the supplies, but we still feel it is worthwhile if we get the rest through.” He added that tihe United States had not lost a troopship since she entered the war.
