ESSENTIAL UNDERTAKINGS.— Among undertakings recently declared essential are the following: Akins and Robertson, Ltd., InvercargiH; Macdonald and Weston, Invercargill; J. Fraser and Sons, Invercargill; J. T. Lindsay, Queenstown. FIRE CALLS IN JULY.— Fourteen calls were received by the Invercargill Fire Brigade during July, according to the report of the superintendent (Mr J. Philp) to the Fire Board yesterday. Six were to property fires, one to a rubbish fire and six to chimney fires and one to a justifiable false alarm. None of the fires was serious. DONATION TO MUSEUM— The Bluff Harbour Board at its meeting last night voted £l5/15/- to the funds of the Southland Museum. DUNEDIN COMPETITIONS.— At the Dunedin competitions last night Miss R. Ferry (Invercargill), who competed in the piano solo (Bach selection), was placed equal first with Mr James W. Dixon with 84 points.
