(Rec. 6.30 p.m.) NEW YORK, Aug. 25. The diplomatic exchange ship Gripsholm arrived from Japan, bringing 1451 Americans and Canadians, including the Ambassador to Japan, Mr J. C. Grew, and the Minister to Thailand, Mr Hugh Peck, also foreign correspondents, missionaries and business men. . A thorough examination by officials of the State and Justice Departments, the army and navy intelligence and the Customs will be made before the passengers are permitted to leave the ship.
