IMPORTANCE OF WOMEN TO PRODUCTION

(Rec. 8.45 p.m.) NEW YORK, August 24. The battle of production may be won or lost by women, says The New York World-Telegram. At least one aircraft manufacturer has notified Washington that it depends on the speed with which he can hire and train women whether his production schedules will be fulfilled. Six Southern Californian companies at present employ 7500 women. Moreover, the companies credit women with improving plant efficiency and increasing output. At the Vultee works women raised the production rate all over the plant. Fuselage work, in particular, moved more rapidly under the women’s nimbler fingers.
