APPEALS OF MEN IN BALLOTS
Appeals by or on behalf of men drawn in the sixteenth ballot (the majority of the names in this ballot were those of married men with children and aged 32, 33 and 34) will be dealt with by the Southland Armed Forces Appeal Board next month. Most of the cases will be heard in Invercargill. The board has arranged to sit on September 1,2, 3,4, 8,9, 10, and 15. The board will sit at Gore on September 11, 17 and 18 and at Wyndham and Mataura on September 16. The names of 1290 men belonging to No. 12 military district appeared in the sixteenth ballot and 778 appeals have been received. In addition the board expects to deal next month with 100 other appeals for men drawn in previous ballots.
