Bacon Pigs.—Prime baconweights 1201 b to 1501 b 7d per lb, delivered at abattoirs. Produce—Chaff £6, hay £5, straw £3 15/- ton, wheat 22/-, oats 11/- to 12/6, crushed oats 12/6, ground oats 10/-, Farra food 16/6, partridge peas £l, poultry pellets 13/6’, moose meal £l/1/-, moose nuts £l, oyster shell grit 6/- cwt. Miscellaneous. —Pumice boilers £ 10/3/3, pumice washtubs £3/2/6, cement 7/4, timber £l/5/-, droppers £l/2/6, posts £8 to £lO, horse covers £2/17/6, cow covers 13/6. Vegetables—Cabbage 2/6 to 3/-, cauliflower 4/-, carrots, parsnips and beetroot Id to 2d lb, Brussels sprouts 5d lb. GORE HORSE SALE Prices showed a considerable improvement on those ruling at recent sales at the monthly horse sale conducted by Wright, Stephenson and Co. Ltd. in their horse bazaar, Wigan street, Gore, yesterday. There was a big entry forward and and a big number of farmers attended the sale. Good guaranteed sorts made up to £3O, this price being paid for a five-year-old mare offered on account of Mr David Tither (Edendale), the purchaser being Mr B. Donaldson (Pukerau). The same price was secured for an eight-year-old gelding offered on account of Mr N. O'Hara (Gore). The purchaser was Miss B. M. Marshall (Wendonside). A four-year-old mare offered on account of Mr F. N. Jones (Waitane) was sold for £29 to Mr W. Mitchell (Wairuna). Registered mares brought up to 24*,4 guineas, this price being paid for a horse offered on account of the estate of J. C. McDonald (Diamond Peak). A nine-year-old gelding from the same team made £2B/10/-. Other registered sorts sold down to 19' Z 2gns. Good young working sorts made from £22 to £26, others showing a little age making from £lB to £22 and aged horses selling at from £lO to £l5. Hacks and ponies were well represented and top price in this section, £l6/10/-, was secured for a three-year-old saddle pony offered on account of Mr W. McDonald (Christchurch), the purchaser being Mr W. A. Moffitt (Balclutha). Other reliable ponies made from £lO to £l4 and hacks sold at from £9 to £l2/10/-, aged sorts realizing down to £4. CLEARING SALE AT EAST CHATTON The Southland Farmers’ Co-operative Association, Ltd., conducted a successful clearing sale on the property of Mr D. L. Shanks at East Chatton. There was a big attendance of buyers and the demand was good, excellent prices being secured. The sheep were offered in splendid condition and they sold well. Two-tooth ewes of good quality brought 44/- and two, three and four-shear ewes made 40/-. A line of ewe hoggets realized 40/6 and wether hoggets brought 36/-.' Cows sold up to £ll/10/- and heifers to £9. Several good types of young working horses were offered and these made from £lB to £2O. • MACDUFFS LTD. (P.A.) WELLINGTON, August 22.
