THREE FIRES DURING WEEK-END

The Invercargill Fire Brigade received three calls during the week-end. The first was at 5.20 p.m. on Saturday to a chimney fire at the residence of Mrs J. V. Johnston, 106 Bowmont street. Little or no damage was done, the fire being extinguished by means of a bucket-pump. At 12.21 a.m. on Sunday the brigade received a call to the corner of Newcastle and Clifton streets to a malicious false alarm.

A call to T. R. Taylor and Company’s garage was received at 5.12 a.m. on Sunday morning, where a switchboard and a bench were damaged. The cause of the fire, which was extinguished by means of a bucket-pump, is unknown.
