Changeable and Showery
(Special) WELLINGTON, August 23. Following is the special weather forecast for Southland, issued by the Meteorological Office, Wellington:— Fresh to strong south-westerly winds. Weather changeable and showery with some snow on higher levels. Temperatures cool.
The weather in Invercargill on Saturday was fine and partly overcast after heavy overnight rain and yesterday the sky was heavily overcast with a strong northwesterly wind. Heavy rain fell last evening.
At 1 o’clock this morning heavy rain was falling with a cold wind blowing from the north-west. The barometer reading was 29.60 in. (falling). The Tides.—High water, Invercargill, ; I. p.m. Bluff, ; 12.44 p.m. Riverton, 11. a.m.; 11.44 p.m. Oreti Beach, 11.39 a.m.; 11.53 p.m. The Sun.—Rises, 7.32 a.m.; sets, 6.07 p.m.
