TUATAPERE RED CROSS.—At a meeting of the Tuatapere branch of the Red Cross Society, Dr Elder reported that sufficient gauze bandages were now in hand to begin work on field dressings for the Home Guard. The stretchers had been made locally and were very satisfactory. Miss B. McLeod reported that the V.A.'s had completed their second-year home-nursing course and 26 candidates had sat the examination. It was decided to send £3O to the Sick and Wounded Fund and £2O to the Southland Centre. The monthly shop day will be held on Thursday, August 27.
