CHANGE OF STREET NAME NOT FAVOURED

A suggestion of the Mayor (Mr A. Wachner) that because of the confusion likely to arise from the similarity of the names, Heriot street and Heriot Court, one of them should be changed did not gain the support of the City Council, which at Its meeting last night decided not to take any action. An amendment moved by Cr G. J. Reed, that the Works Committee suggest a new name for Heriot Court, was lost, only Cr Reed and Cr R. T. Parsons, who seconded the amendment, voting for it. Cr A. Scott, chairman of the Works Committee, said he did not think a change was necessary. The name Heriot < applied to the court was useful because it indicated the locality of the court.
