CONVERSION OF 30 CARS

(P.A.) AUCKLAND, August 17. Charges involving the conversion of motorcars valued at £2729 were preferred against a boot factory worker, aged 17, before Mr J. Morling. S.M. Pleas of guilty were entered on each of 30 counts. The accused’s name was suppressed until sentence was passed. Detective-Sergeant Trethewey said the accused and a boy aged 16 had converted 30 cars from Auckland streets and had also stolen articles from cars. The vehicles were abandoned when the benzine was exhausted. The accused was remanded for sentence.
