WASTE OF PAPER ALLEGED

(Special) NAPIER, August 17. "I think we should protest against this waste of paper," said Mr R. Harding, chairman of the Hawke’s Bay County Council, when referring to the receipt of a booklet containing the new motor spirits prices regulations. The clerk, Mr W. J. O'Connell, said that in the booklet the various areas affected by the differential tariff were shown, but Instead of defining boundaries such as from Petane to Otane, each place was detailed and 43 pages were taken up to give a geographical description of such places. "And what is more,” he added, “it is written in such a way that few people can •understand it.” It was decided to ask the Counties Association to take the matter up in an effort to conserve paper.
